We at CKMedical hope that these documents will help you to prepare your surplus products for the market. Some work at the beginning will help you maximise your income.
How To Maximise The Value Of Surplus Equipment
1 Ensure that the equipment has a full service history. A routine service just before disposal is even better as it shows potential buyer that it is in working order and has been properly looked after.
2 Get a service continuity letter from your service provider, supplier, or original manufacturer, which will confirm that the system is not obsolete and can be serviced and spares obtained for a few years at least.
The text should be along these lines and be written on their headed paper -
“The (year of mfg, mfg, model and serial number of the system) currently located at (the name and address of hospital) has been under continuous service contract since its original installation in xx/xx. The system has received regular PM visits and is currently operating at or beyond (OEM) standards for performance and image quality. Further, if the system were to be reinstalled by us or a competent third party, it would be fully acceptable for coverage under a continuing service contract”.
3 Locate and provide copies of relevant documentation – the original invoice, details of any upgrades (software & hardware), service records, operating manuals, and service manuals (if any). Potential buyers will want to know exactly which options are installed etc.
4 Ensure that any/all accessories are available and in working order including those rarely used
5 Clean and decontaminate the equipment prior to any viewing by potential buyers to minimise the potential for transference of bugs and “superbugs” such as MRSA
6 Certify that decontamination in accordance with guidelines has been carried out
7 Obtain the de-installation instructions from the manufacturer (if applicable)
8 Obtain key usage data for the equipment – no of scans, hours of use, etc.
9 Nominate a user who can answer questions about the features and benefits of the equipment as well as talk about the system’s history.
10 Engage a specialist re-marketer who can locate qualified buyers from known contacts and who can manage the whole process for you saving you both time and expense and market it most effectively obtaining the best possible price.
